Elite Jazz Quartet . . .
. . . is so much more than a “budget” option! The “two horns and two rhythm” formula allows a flexibility that this quartet has the collective skill and experience to exploit. The musicians are professionals who regularly appear with this quartet as well as other six piece ensembles who all very experienced in fitting their music to the needs of the promoter. The compact, “portable” nature of this band has made it popular with promoters and its exciting, well presented performance of an interesting repertoire of tunes has kept audiences happy in clubs and festivals all over the country. This outfit can also be offered as a trio for those events where space is at a premium.
AUL MUNNERY'S SWING STREET . .
. . . a six-piece band, are best described in the words of one of the bands many followers: “hot and tasty.” For inspiration these musicians look to the many small bands, such as those led by Fats Waller, Teddy Wilson, Coleman Hawkins, Red Allen and others, who performed in New York in the 1930’s. Their repertoire combines familiar favourites with ballads, blues, and “swingers” loved by audiences but rarely heard live. The concept of fiery trombone and fluid clarinet/saxophone blowing with infectious enthusiasm over a rhythm section to die for makes this an irresistible sound.
Ken Pye's Creole Serenaders . . .
. . . is the classic New Orleans Jazz Band, led by a trumpeter who has been a main stay of the music scene for over 40 years. The band has been together in its current form since early 1990s and as such provides both relaxing blues and ballads and driving stomps and marches played within the authentic style of the 1920s. This band has a huge repertoire of songs and can cope with most requests. It is the ideal band for dances where quickstep, foxtrot, waltzes, etc are the order of the day. This band can also expand to form an authentic New Orleans Marching Brass Band.
HARLEM . . .
. . . is a well rehearsed 11 - piece jazz orchestra founded in 1981 to revive the exciting big band sounds of the 1920/30s. Its performances combine musical authenticity and professional presentation to prove that the creations of Fletcher Henderson, Luis Russell and the young Duke Ellington, amongst many others, are as entertaining today as they were first time around. With its driving rhythm, crackling ensembles, hot solos and lively ensembles, this band is unbeatable in its class for sheer impact. For twenty five years this band has played clubs, theatres and festivals throughout Europe, including a series of shows at London’s Barbican Centre. |
